God’s Helping Hand #9

Hello friends! How has your last week gone? We have been getting rain here. It is fall now and the leaves as turning beautiful colours here, in Ontario.

I am sorry some of you couldn’t get to GHH ezboard through the link on my web page. It was because of the period on the end of the link. The same may have been with the email address.

If I ever fail to put an answer or introduction in here that you have sent me, please let me know.

Please visit the ezboard, there is some action there again, thanks especially to Cheyenne. J

Thank you very much for your replies Carlotta, Chinta, Sarah, Odelle or Annique, and Laura, and for your introduction, Flaviu.

Our question was:

Do we as Christians have a responsibility to live healthfully? Why or why not?

Carlotta’s answer is:

We as Christians know the 8 laws of health (new start) and if we practice what God has instructed us to do than we are to be examples, a light unto the world. We cannot go around telling the health message and not live it. We must be lamp bearers. May God help us in our diet. This is the reason we are in the state of sin that we are, because of our parents Adam & Eve who ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Chinta’s answer is:

Bottom line is, that when we obey the 8 laws of health, and keep an obedient, healthy lifestyle, it keeps our minds clear and focused, so we can more fully understand as well as teach the word of God. We are not our own.

Sarah H.’s answer is:

Well, I believe that we are responsible to live healthfully because it says in the Bible that our body is the temple of God and I think we would want to keep our bodies in good order for Him. When we get to heaven we will not be doing and eating things that are bad for our bodies so we might as well start doing that down here. Also there should be some obvious difference between the people of God and the world and health is one thing that we can work on.

Laura’s answer is:

Yes, I do believe that we should be healthy. It is what we teach/preach, thus we should live it too. How good is it when you are asked to do something by a teacher and that teacher doesn't do it them self? It would do us no good to tell others to have a relationship with Christ and not have one of your own.

Odelle or Annique’s answer is:

(sorry, I don’t know which of you it is from, there was no signature on the email)

I believe that we as Christians, have a responsibility to live healthfully. God made our bodies and when they were made they were clean and healthful, so why should we go out and eat junk food and things that are not healthful and make bad blood and don't make you strong for the work of God, and pollute His wonderful masterpiece? Would you like it if you had this beautiful plant and you gave it to someone to look after while you were away, and when you came back you found out that they had not watered it at all and they had fed it the wrong things and as a consequence the plant had withered and died? Well, that is the way it is with Gods creation.

Ellen White says that, "The light God has given on heath reform is for our salvation and the salvation of the world. Men and women should be informed in regard to the human habitation, fitted up by our Creator as His dwelling place, and over which He desires us to be faithful stewards…. Our bodies are wonderfully made and the Lord requires us to keep them in order. ALL are under obligation to Him to keep the human structure in a healthful, wholesome condition, that every muscle, every organ, may be used in the service of God.… God, who formed the wonderful structure of the body, will take special care to keep it in order, if men cooperate, instead of working at cross-purposes, with Him.

Editor’s Note:

Greetings everyone, and thank you for your answers. I believe we should be healthy so that we can more fully represent Christ, and have the strength to be what we are to be, to share what we need to share, to do what we need to do… We are to be a temple for the Holy Spirit. Who ever defiles this temple, him will God destroy…

For those who are not familiar with the 8 laws, here they are:

Nutrition

Exercise

Water

Sunlight

Temperance

Air

Rest

Trust in Divine Power

Did I get all those right? Hope so…

Anyway, my desire is be healthy, so that I can glorify God and serve Him to the best of my ability. God bless!
