Gods Helping Hand
#11
Christian greetings! You have probably noticed that the Gods Helping Hand Yahoo!
Group is complete, finally. I am sorry this issue of Gods Helping Hand is late, I
was waiting for the Yahoo Group to be finished. Please send interesting and uplifting
items, such as introductions, stories, poems, prayer requests, recipes, etc. to GodsHelpingHand@yahoogroups.com
Please note that I moderate everything sent to this address, meaning I am able to view
it before it is released to all of you. For this reason, in most cases you will not
receive it immediately after it is sent. Please continue to send your answers to kylajayne@yahoo.com. You may also write me there if
you have any questions, concerns, etc. To unsubscribe from Gods Helping Hand, send
an email to GodsHelpingHand-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com
Thank you very much for your replies, Laura, Panankosi, Vanessa B., and
Flaviu!
Our question was:
What does it mean to you, to be a Christian?
Lauras answer is:
Being a Christian is being a follower of Christ. Doing things that He did. Spending
time with the Father, and time in the Word. Sharing the "awesomeness" of God
with others.

Panankosis answer is:
"It was in Antioch that the disciples (of Jesus) were first called Christians. The
name was given them because Christ was the main theme of their preaching, their teaching
and their conversation". Being a Christian to me means to be a follower of Christ in
all that He showed us. He lived His life as an example that we should follow His steps, 1
Peter 2:21. To love as Christ loved, to teach and preach as He taught, to live His life
and even to suffer as He suffered. To be a Christian means to have the character of Jesus
reproduced in me.

Vanessa B.s answer is:
To be a Christian means to be "Christ-like". That means, in the things we do
we're to follow Christ's example and be like Him. Being a Christian also means that we
pray, study, and believe in the Bible--the Word of God. Also that we are striving to
perfection. It's not an easy life, but it's the best life to be a Christian! :-) And also,
Christians are supposed to be the happiest people in the earth because they have the peace
of God. That one really hits home for me. I think we need to remember that we're supposed
to be the happiest people because we have a great hope! :-) Another thing,
Christians--TRUE Christians, don't just claim or profess to be Christians, they show it in
their actions. To be a Christian means you spread the Word of God and try to be an example
to all around you. Most of all, a Christian believes in God, and the Sacrifice that He
made for us by sending His son to die for us. Christians have accepted Jesus as their
Saviour.

Flavius answer is:
The vast majority of today's population pretends to be a Christian. Everywhere you turn
you most likely will find one that pretends to be a Christian. They go to church, say they
love GOD and so forth. But the key words are that they pretend they say but never do. Our
actions show what we are inside. The Bible says, "By their FRUITS ye shall know
them." It is a very important matter to be careful of what we do each and every day
of our lives. The psalmist calls us to be a light in this world. Don't hide that light,
let others see it that they might not stumble in the dark.
Editors Note:
Thank you everyone for your answers, they were well said. What can I add? I believe
that if we are Christians, we will love and obey God, well live up to all the
truth/light He has shown us and we will seek to share it with the world! We will have
peace in Jesus no matter what goes on around us.
The questions for this issue is:
Do you think we, as Christians should participate in Halloween? Why or
why not?
(Please feel free to post informative articles on the subject, and/or a
testimony on how God showed you what was right).
Please send in your answers before or on November 3rd so
they can be published in the next issue.
Do you have any stories, poems, recipes, prayer requests, etc. that you
would like to share?
